About

EMC Scientific Inc. is a laboratory specializing in analysis of building-related environmental microbiology samples. The laboratory is conveniently located at the south side of highway 401 in Mississauga, Ontario (main intersection at 401/Dixie Road). We are committed to providing top quality analysis results and responsive service to clients at competitive pricing.

Mould growth in indoor environments has been increasingly recognized as a potential threat to occupant health. Some moulds may be pathogenic and/or toxigenic. Fungi exist everywhere on the earth. The number of fungal species has been estimated at 1.5 million and about 100,000 species have been identified and reported thus far. The skill for correct identification of moulds cannot be achieved over a short term. This requires years of education and years of hands-on specific experience.

At present, there is no Canadian government regulation or certification for environmental microbiology laboratories. The most reliable criteria for a high-quality laboratory are its personnel’s qualification/training and QA/QC programs. EMC Laboratory is proud to have experienced PhD mycologists to analyse your samples. Our exceptional experience in mycology/microbiology makes us confident in our outstanding analysis protocols, and quality assurance/control programs, and subsequently in providing accurate and reliable analysis results in timely manner to clients.

Our services are available 24/7 in order to provide better response to any emergency situation. We can also customize analysis report formats upon special request. EMC laboratory is committed to delivering the best services available in the industry, whilst providing top quality mould analysis and rapid screening (1 or 2 days) for sewage contamination/clearance.

Asbestos Analysis

We have expanded our services to include asbestos analysis. Asbestos is a naturally occuring mineral fiber. The use of asbestos in building materials as widespread until the 1980s. Asbestos can be found in many products, such as the following: drywall joint compound, plaster, floor tiles, sheet flooring, acoustic ceiling tiles, roofing materials, transite pipes and siding. Vermiculite insulation used in attics may also contain asbestos. Exposure to asbestos can pose serious health risks. Accurate identification of asbestos is imperative for ensuring the safety of workers and/or occupants of buildings where the potential for exposure exists.
